The Congress-led Opposition raised the issue of former Indian Navy Officer Kulbhushan Jadhav’s death sentence by Pakistan, in the Parliament on Tuesday. Following the previous reports, Congress also tossed the matter of Kashmir unrest on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha.

The Congress leaders on Tuesday passed an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha to discuss the Kulbhushan Jadhav. The Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge said, “Agar usey bacha nahi paaye toh ye sarkaar ki kamzori hog”. Pointing at PM Modi, Kharge said that PM visited Pakistan but failed to raise Kulbhushan Jadhav issue with his Pakistani counterpart. Pakistan didn’t follow international laws in the matter concerning Kulbhushan Jadhav, he added.

Pakistan military court is a banana court where they have given a verdict without any evidence said Asaduddin Owaisi who is the President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen. We have to save Mr Jadhav at any cost. The government should use its influence to bring him back, he added.

Replying to the arguments, Union Minister Ananth Kumar said that the government is with Kulbhushan Jadhav and the Home Minister Rajnath Singh will give a reply on the matter.

Attacking the Pakistan external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj claimed that the trial that Kulbhushan Jadhav faced in Pakistan was a farce. “It is an indefensible verdict against an innocent Indian citizen. We have no option but to deem the sentence a premeditated murder,” she said.
