Ravi, a mason, was apprehended under various provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 after confessing to his heinous act, according to forest officials. Ravi reportedly observed a nest constructed by cormorants and egrets atop a tree in his village, bringing the incident to light. In an inexplicable act of destruction, he mercilessly destroyed the nest, resulting in the death of twenty-four innocent chicks. Seven additional hens were injured as a result of his actions.

Authorities are currently providing the injured chickens with the necessary medical care to ensure their recovery. Range Forest Officer Surendra and Deputy Range Forest Officer Mohan Kumar have opened an investigation. During the investigation, Ravi’s confession sent shockwaves through the community. He disclosed that he became increasingly aggravated by the mess created by the birds beneath the tree, which had become his regular hangout. His apparent frustration led him to use sticks to forcibly dislodge the bird’s nest from its perch, culminating in the death of the defenceless chicks. A forest official accurately described the incident as “heartbreaking to watch,” highlighting the distressing nature of the crime.
