Bihar Hospital Use of Cola Bottle as Urine Bag Raises Concerns: Due to a lack of appropriate medical equipment, a hospital in Jamui, Bihar purportedly gave a patient a cold drink bottle to collect urine, which was an improbable and likely dangerous jugaad. A man who had been incapacitated and brought to the Sadar Hospital in the state received a Sprite bottle instead of a urine bag on Monday evening.

In the absence of predetermined arrangements made on Tuesday morning, the team was forced to seek alternatives and utilise plastic bottles. In the interim, the incident was captured on camera to inform authorities and the general public of the dire situation confronting the hospital’s medical staff.

A video depicting a man in a hospital bed with an oxygen mask and a saline container was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. However, the hospital administration has given him a Sprite container to collect his urine instead of a urine bag. In the video, the bottle was placed between his thighs, and a small hole was cut into his pants to allow him to urinate. As he was unable to move, the individual in the video appeared to be experiencing serious health issues.

Immediately after the video was shared, it went viral. People were appalled by the dreadful state of the hospital and the state government. One user, criticising CM Nitish’s administration, remarked that this is the condition of the health infrastructure in Nitish’s Bihar. Another person tweeted that it was disgraceful and tagged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. A third user commented that it was horrifying and labelled the current Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav. This situation terrified others as well.

A hospital spokesperson stated in the now-viral video that they were oblivious of the shortage and had to use a cold drink bottle to treat the patient in an emergency. He condemned the negligence and vowed to take the necessary action against the employees who substituted the object for sanitised, clinically-used urine bags.
