Coolie Advance Booking: Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is making history even before people get to watch it. The film will release in just four days, but it has already earned more than ₹50 crore from advance ticket sales worldwide. This is a huge number for any movie before release, and fans are booking seats like crazy.

International ticket booking for Coolie started earlier this week and went super fast. By Saturday, the movie had already made more than $4 million overseas. Trade sources said the number went close to $5 million by Sunday, which is around ₹42 crore in Indian money.
Advance Sales in India on Fire
In India, booking started in stages from Friday. By Sunday morning, the movie had already collected ₹10 crore just for the first day’s shows and ₹14 crore in total advance sales. The Tamil version is leading with ₹9.98 crore in bookings. The Telugu and Kannada versions are also doing well. The Hindi version is still slow, with only about 2,500 tickets sold for 400 shows, but experts believe it will pick up more bookings as the release date gets closer.

Breaking Records Before the First Show
Before even coming to theatres, Coolie has already earned more in India than the total lifetime earnings of the Hindi film Emergency. Outside India, it has also beaten the overseas collections of Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life. The next target is to break the record of Jailer, which made ₹18 crore in advance booking for a Rajinikanth movie. After that, the big challenge will be Leo, which holds the all-time record in India with ₹46 crore in advance sales.
Looking at the current speed of ticket sales, the movie might be on its way to become one of the biggest openings ever for an Indian film.
