The state government Thursday tweaked the discharge policy for Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infected patients on cure, by mandating one negative follow up result in the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test before releasing all types of patients enrolled at the medical facilities for treatment.
“The negative follow-up result is a must in all pre-symptomatic and symptomatic cases of Covid infection,” said principal secretary, health, Sanjay Kumar, adding that a notification to this effect was issued on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the coronavirus survivours are facing social boycott in Bihar. Gautam Kumar, a resident of Nadlal Chhapra locality in Patna, is facing hard times as vegetable sellers, grocery shop owners, barbers and even cleaning staff members are maintaining a distance from his family. The result is that he has had to travel far to buy essential commodities for his household. 36-year-old Mohammad Jumman, who is being addressed as “Yamraj” (lord of death) by his neighbours. The neighbours have also stopped visiting his ration shop that located in Jamalpur town of Munger district fearing that goods collected from his shop could leave them infected with coronavirus.

16 migrants have lost their lives in various accidents in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh as they were headed home.
In a shocking incident, more than 50 migrant labourers got down from a ‘Shramik Special’ train by pulling the emergency chain near Hajipur in Bihar. The Shramik express was coming from Maharashtra and was on its way to Bihar’s Bhagalpur, but the migrants stopped the train midway and escaped from there.
Bihar received the largest single-day influx of migrant workers Thursday when 1.16 lakh people reached the state through special trains and buses arranged for them from different parts of India.
“Around 50,910 migrant workers were scheduled to arrive by 34 special trains Thursday. Besides, another 65,306 came by 2,200 buses through the borders of Gopalganj and Kaimur,” said Anupam Kumar, Bihar’s information and public relations department secretary.
A child died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) at Shrikrishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur in Bihar on Thursday, the hospital's superintendent Dr SK Shahi said. A total of 22 children, suffering from AES, were admitted to the hospital this year, out of which five have died. As many as 17 children have been discharged. AES is a viral disease that causes flu-like symptoms such as high fever, vomiting and in extreme cases, brain dysfunction, seizure and inflammation of the heart and kidney. (ANI)
Dev Kumar (55) did not think twice before giving shelter to 13 stranded toymakers from Bihar’s Khagaria and Saharsa districts under his roof.
