India’s Covid-19 tally crosses 2.5 lakh-mark with biggest one-day spike of 9,983 cases in last 24 hours, as per the latest data from state governments. As many as 1,24,095 coronavirus patients have been cured and discharged so far with 1,25,381 active cases.
Maharashtra registered 3,007 new cases till Sunday, the government said, and remains the worst state in the country with 85,975 cases. More than 3,000 people have died in the state. The state has now surpassed China’s COVID-19 tally of 83,036 confirmed cases, a health official said.
Delhi, which is also witnessing a spike as people resumed regular activities and shed caution, has reported 27,654 cases of COVID-19 so far, including 761 deaths.
The pandemic has killed 400,581 people worldwide since it surfaced in China late last year. At least 6,949,890 cases have been registered in 196 countries and territories.

The Golden Temple restarted its langar and distributed 'prasad' among devotees as it reopened on Monday, defying the Punjab government's lockdown guidelines. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gobind Singh Longowal on Sunday had urged the government to review its guidelines prohibiting the offering of 'prasad' and langar at places of worship. According to the guidelines, there shall be no distribution of 'prasad', food or 'langar' (community kitchen) at religious places. The SGPC authorities said they ensured complete hygiene at the community kitchen centre. Meanwhile, other places of worship and shopping malls also reopened after a gap of more than two and half months while adhering to the guidelines issued by the state government. (PTI)

Delhi government has attached a few hotels to hospitals to enhance capacity in view of the increasing coronavirus cases. The cost of rooms will be set by hospitals, of which, Rs 4,000 to 5,000 will be given to the hotel, while rest will go to the hospital.
Hospitals will be responsible for modifications and other medical requirements in the rooms. Sources say only asymptotic patients or those who have recovered and waiting to be discharged will be kept in the hotel rooms so that hospital bed can be used for serious patients.

Seeking to facilitate the availability of experimental drugs for severely-ill Covid-19 patients, the Union Health Ministry has issued a draft notification for "compassionate use" of any unapproved drug that is in the phase-III clinical trial globally.
