Coronavirus Lockdown: Migrant workers faint on their way to Kochi to Tenkasi

The local people came to their help and provided them with food and water and after that they were moved to a camp.

Muvattupuzha: The migrant workers attempted to walk back to their villages at Tenkasi in Tamil Nadu from Kochi in Kerala after they were left with no job or a place they could live after the lockdown was imposed in the country. The poor migrants were deprived of food and water and two of the workers fainted by the time they reached Muvattupuzha.

The five migrant workers used to work in a furniture shop in Kochi. They took the decision to walk back home as the public transport services were suspended in the wake of coronavirus.

After the lockdown was imposed the youth were returning to their home, the owner also gave them Rs 1,000 to each of them.

The workers used to live at the furniture shop but after the shutdown, they had no option to return to their native land.

Five of them reached Muvattupuzha by midnight but they fainted after the long walk. The local people came to their help and provided them with food and water and after that they were moved to a camp.
