Professor Stephen Schwartz, pathologist and godfather of modern vascular biology, has passed away due to the novel coronavirus, according to a tweet from the University of Washington, Medicine department.
Schwartz was a professor of pathology since 1984, according to the department’s biography, with a focus on vascular biology, CNN reported.
We are deeply saddened that faculty member Professor Stephen Schwartz passed away due to a COVID-19 infection.
He has left a lasting imprint on our department, our university, and the broader scientific community and will be greatly missed.
