The case of double murder from Madanapalli town in Chittoor district is giving headaches to Andhra Pradesh police. As the couple who killed their daughters in the hope to revive them later is refusing to cooperate with the police. The mother of the deceased daughters refused to undergo the mandatory COVID-19 test in the local GGH.
Later, she cooperated with the police in giving a sample. “Who are you to tell me (to undergo the test). The virus cannot harm me as it broke out of Lord Shiva’s hair and not from Wuhan in China. I am Lord Shiva’s devotee. Coronavirus will end in March. There is no need to use the vaccine. Lord Shiva is there to protect Madanapalli town,” Padmja kept telling this to the police while undergoing a test at the hospital.
Madanapalli DSP A Ravi Manohara Chary said, “We completed the medical examination formalities of the couple with great difficulty. A case has been booked against the duo under Section 302 IPC. Other sections will also be added against them after the investigation into the case is over.”
Notably, Padmaja is an IIT gold medallist and was running an IIT coaching center in the Madanpalli area. While the husband, Purushottam Naidu is the principal of the Government College.
The couple allegedly killed their own daughters after falling into superstitious practices. Police said the mother attacked her two daughters with dumbbells and took their lives. The deceased were identified as 27-year-old Alekhya and 22-year-old Sai Divya.
