Motihari-based Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU) affiliated to University Grants Commission (UGC) will probably be the first institute to conduct the examination through WhatsApp.
In view of the delay in examination and study work, a seven-member committee has been formed by the UGC, but not a single report has been submitted yet.
Therefore, there are no instructions or guidelines from the Commission on conducting the online examination by the UGC so far.
The question papers will be sent to the students on WhatsApp as per a notification issued on April 14 by Dr. Pawanesh Kumar, the university’s professor of management science.
They have to answer the questions on the answer sheet, sign every sheet and then scan and upload them on WhatsApp in PDF format. Once the written test is over, students will be given a new schedule for a personal interview. Most of the students have condemned the move. The university has students who live in rural areas and do not have access to the Internet all the time.
On the other hand, Professor Trilochan Sharma, head of the Department of Commerce at the university, said that it is not a final examination, it is an internal examination by the university. After the written examination, we also have a video interview, which should ensure transparency.
He said that MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) has asked all educational institutions to carry out educational activities through online medium and we are following their instructions.
