COVID-19: Kerala Man gets arrested for organising daughter’s wedding with presence of 1000 people

On Saturday in Alappuzha, a man named Shammer Ahammed, of Arattuvazhi, had a case registered against him by the North police for organising the wedding of his daughter in violation of strict restrictions imposed by the government after the outbreak of Covid-19.

As per the police, the wedding function was organised at Alappuzha Town Hall on March 15 and over 1,000 invitees attended the function.

Circle Inspector Vinod KP said that they have registered a case as per the IPC 269(negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life)), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), and Kerala Police Act 118(e) (knowingly does any act which causes danger to public or failure in public safety) against the man.

As per the Alappuzha district administration, Ambalappuzha tahsildar has served notice to accused Shameer recommending him to organise the wedding as a small function. “Tahasildar also met his family and him directly at his home on March 13.
