COVID-19 outbreak: Woman under quarantine, delivers healthy baby in Kargil

The pandemic coronavirus has led to a complete lockdown all over and there are a lot of problems faced by the common man but amid the outbreak of COVID 19, there is some good news from Kargil where a woman has given birth to a healthy baby in a quarantined village.

Both mother and child have been sent back to their village after both completed the 14-day period of quarantine. The woman belongs to Sanku village in Kargil where the entire village was sealed after two COVID 19 positive patients were detected.

According to Kargil deputy commissioner Basir-ul-Haq Choudhary, the woman was rushed to the hospital as soon as she started showing signs of labour. Since the entire village was quarantined, a special arrangement had to be made for the delivery.

In such a difficult time when social distancing is advised, a female girl volunteered to take care of the woman as nobody from the village nor her family was allowed to visit the hospital. To help this woman, members of an NGO had extended help by arranging clothes, medicines and other materials for the newborn baby.

Even though the mother had tested negative but was quarantined for as a precautionary measure. After being discharged from the hospital in two days, the women left for the village.

In India, Death toll rises to 38 in country and number of coronavirus cases increases to 1,637.
