Crisis at UP Board as 27,000 school doesn't have books for English & Commerce students for new session

More than 27 thousand secondary schools affiliated with the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP board) have a crisis of books at the high school and intermediate level.

According to the report in Jagran, the new academic session is set to begin but the books have not yet been arranged. The tender of commerce books and English have not been given to someone till now. In such circumstances, millions of students will not be able to study these subjects even when schools are opened.

It is the responsibility of the Board administration to decide the syllabus for secondary schools affiliated with the Council of Secondary Education (UP board) and arrange books. Taking steps towards the goal of equal education, the NCERT syllabus is being implemented in a phased manner in the UP board.

Reason for this crisis at UP Board

Last year, the government approved two important subjects of English and commerce courses in UP Board on the lines of NCERT. The new English course in classes IX and XI in the affiliated schools was implemented from the previous session itself. In the new session, the changed course is to commence in 10th (high school) and 12th (inter).

Similarly, the government had sealed the change of commerce course in intermediate classes. In fact, the regulation in the commerce class was to be amended, so the direction of the government is awaited.

The order was issued on 18th September 2020. But, then, it was said that studies and registrations have started and there are no books, so the commerce course in the 11th will come into force from the new academic session.

Before the commencement of the academic session, the board administration has been tendering books every year, but this time the course books tender is yet to be given. That’s why there has been a crisis in high school and Inter for students who want to study English and commerce for the class 11th.
