Three Time Champions Chennai Super Kings are looking to change their team drastically for the upcoming IPL season 2021. The team led by MS Dhoni would be looking to regain their charm, unlike the previous season where they fall short to qualify for the Playoffs in UAE.
CSK are expected to release some of their players before the auction to rebuild the team. As per Cricbuzz, Piyush Chawla and Tamil Nadu’s Batsman Murli Vijay is set to leave the Chennai side. Vijay has been part of CSK since 2018 and veteran Chawla had worn the yellow outfit, only last year.
Notably, Piyush Chawla was CSK’s most expensive buy at Rs 6.75 crore in the 2019 player auction. With only six wickets in his seven appearances for the CSK side, Chawla’s performance was very mediocre.
Also, Murli Vijay didn’t quite hit up with CSK batting dynamics since, as Team management only gave star opener 3 matches to bat last season. He was then dropped for the latter part of the season. Murali Vijay cost CSK side a salary of Rs 2 crore.
Suresh Raina & Kedar Jadhav fate in MS Dhoni hands
Suresh Raina walked out of IPL 2020 in the UAE due to ‘alleged’ issues with team management, which cause a concern for his future with the team.
Raina although has scored 5368 runs at an average of 33.34 from 193 IPL games at a strike-rate of 137.14. Which makes him the highest scorer for the CSK side and the second-highest run-getter in the IPL after Virat Kohli. Suresh Raina’s salary is 11 crores.
Apart from Raina, Kedar Jadhav’s future is also uncertain. Jadhav also had an underwhelming IPL 2020 where he scored only 62 runs in eight games at a strike-rate of just 93.93. Jadhav’s salary is 7.8 crore for the CSK side.
