UP horror: Woman headless body dumped in Bulandshahr; chopped hands and head found 30km away

Four days later, a 26-year-old woman Naina, returned home after her family in Patiala performed her last rites. The murder mystery has taken a revolting turn as police have restarted the investigation to identify the vandalised body discovered near Patiala-Sangrur southern bypass, while Naina’s family was shocked to see her alive on Wednesday.

On 8 December, Naina who was married in Chamkaur Sahib went missing from her house.

On 11 December, Jiwan Singh, a local farmer, found a dead body in a gunny bag while he was taking a round of his field. Police started seeking public help to identify the body of the woman in her mid-20s.

On 14 December, Naina’s family claimed that the body was Naina’s and took its possession. The body was cremated on December 15.

Earlier Police suspected that Naina had eloped with a truck driver, who could have killed her as the truck driver was also missing from his place since then.

However, Naina returned home with the truck driver with whom she had eloped which resumed police investigation to identify the vandalised body. Reportedly, after the body was found, police had shifted it to Government Rajindra Hospital’s mortuary. The department had preserved the DNA and fingerprints of the deceased which can now be used to establish the dead woman’s identity.

JS Tiwana, SHO Sardar police station said that Naina’s family had come forward and claimed that the body was hers. He also said that if the family had not approached the police, the cops themselves would have cremated the body as per the procedure laid out in the case of unidentified bodies.

The police investigators said that there were some marks on the deceased’s neck suggesting that the woman could have been strangulated and later, in post-mortem report it got confirmed. A team of forensic experts also visited the spot where the body was found to look for evidence.
