Delhi government school teacher recruitment row: Taking a dig at AAP govt for poor education standard, BJP leader Vijender Gupta demanded immediate reply from Education Minister Manish Sisodia why large number of posts of regular Urdu and Punjabi teachers is vacant in Delhi government schools.

“Only 57 regular Urdu teachers are available for 1,028 posts and 112 regular Punjabi teachers for 1,023 posts,” he pointed out.

The BJP MLA reiterated that Rs 15,000 crore is spent annually on education However, the level of education in government schools is “falling’.

The BJP leader claimed out of 1,100, government schools do not have principals.

“No immediate reaction was available from the government or the ruling Aam Aadmi Party,” he asserted.

The remark comes after the Directorate of Education (DoE) issued a circular informing parents of students in government schools that the “mega parent-teacher meeting (PTM) scheduled to be held on April 20 will be kept in abeyance till further orders”.

However, the meet has been called off due to the model code of conduct being in place for the Lok Sabha election. This year, the first PTM was held on January 29.

Out of 61,168 posts of teachers sanctioned for government schools, only 34,323 posts are filled by regular teachers. Only 57 regular Urdu teachers are available for 1,028 posts and 112 regular Punjabi teachers for 1,023 posts, claimed BJP minister.

BJP leader Vijender Gupta demanded immediate reply from Education Minister Manish Sisodia why large number of posts of regular Urdu and Punjabi teachers is vacant.
