Delhi High Court issued a notice to AIIMS and the Centre on Friday July 6, in connection with the petition filed by an acid attack victim over right to employment.

The court asked the Central government and AIIMS as why an acid attack victim (petitioner) has been denied reservation under Persons With Disability (PWD) quota for seeking job in the medical institution.

As per the notification of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, acid attack victims should be given reservation under PWD quota.

The single-judge bench of Justice PS Teji meanwhile permitted the petitioner to apply under General Category. Final hearing in the matter will be conducted on September 13.

The petitioner Yasmeen Mansuree has challenged the AIIMS notification in which it had barred acid attack victims to apply under the PWD quota for the post of staff nurse. In the plea, Mansuree has referred to an amendment in the disability act (2016) in which acid attack victims has been put under Disability benchmark.
