States Announce Direct Payments for 2024 Find Out Which Ones

Direct Payments 2024: The Inflation Reduction Act has engendered substantial transformations, thereby generating unparalleled prospects for renewable energy technologies. To promote environmental justice and encourage private-sector investment, the Act implements “direct pay” or “elective pay” provisions. This facilitates the receipt of a payment equal to the complete value of tax credits by tax-exempt and governmental entities that qualify for clean energy initiatives.

In contrast to competitive grant and loan programs, direct pay guarantees that organizations that fulfill the requisite criteria will be remunerated. Direct pay, which applies to twelve tax credits and includes community solar initiatives, EV charging infrastructure, solar, wind, and battery storage projects, as well as clean vehicles for state fleets, offers a tangible monetary incentive to organizations that are actively engaged in promoting the clean energy economy.

As the federal stimulus payments come to a close, state-specific rebates and direct payments come into focus.
