A Disability Payment Date for the New Year: Disabled Veterans will get an extra 3.2% on their monthly disability pay as of January 1. This is because of the cost of living. Veterans with an injury rate of 10% or more will get a 3.2% raise in pay for the whole year of 2024, according to experts. The COLA raise is in line with what the Social Security Administration thought would happen.

For instance, a Veteran with a 100% rate and no children who got $3,621.95 a month in 2023 will now get $3,737.85 a month because his monthly payment will go up by $115.90.

Veterans will get an extra $1390.8 a year.

Keep in mind that the federal government does not tax benefits like disability pay, pensions, and DIC.

What will happen if I get a score of 0?

If a Veteran gets a 0% rating, they may still be able to get other benefits, like VA health care. However, there are ways to raise their VA disability rating.

“If less than a year has elapsed since the VA granted a service connection for disability benefits and the Veteran believes that the rating is too low, the Veteran can appeal the decision through one of several appeals options,” say lawyers at the Berry Law company.
