Social Security payment in October: For October 2025, people getting Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will see payments twice. The first payment will arrive on October 1, 2025, and the second will come on October 31, 2025. The second payment is really for November because November 1 falls on a weekend this year.
This doesn’t mean you get extra money. It just moves the schedule a little so people don’t wait for the weekend. Most SSI payments usually come on the first of each month.
The maximum SSI amounts for October 2025 are:
Individual: $967 per month
Couples filing together: $1,450 per month
Essential persons caring for SSI recipients: $484 per month
These payments help people pay for basic things like food, rent, and essential bills. For many low-income Americans, this money is very important even if it doesn’t cover everything.

How to Check Your SSI Payment?
Recipients can see their payment status online by signing in to their “my Social Security” account. They can also call SSA at 800-772-1213 (TTY 800-325-0778). If a payment is late, first check with the bank or Direct Express card. Social Security payments are now only electronic, no more paper checks since September 30, 2025.
If a payment doesn’t arrive you should wait three business days after the scheduled date, then contact SSA if needed. Payments in October 2025 will follow the usual schedule: the first on October 1, then later payments based on birth dates. If a payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, it comes the previous business day.
Electronic Payments and Overpayments
SSA now requires all recipients to switch to electronic payments. You can use direct deposit or a Direct Express card and if you haven’t updated your bank or card info, do it now to avoid missing money.

Some people might see smaller payments if they owe money from past overpayments. SSA can take up to 50% of a monthly benefit to recover money owed which helps fix overpayment problems and keeps the system fair.
