A 22-year-old drunk student rammed a Porsche into 12 parked auto-rickshaws in Chennai on early Monday morning killing an auto driver and injuring ten others.
Police said V Vikas, a student was returning home with a friend after a party on Sunday night when he lost control of the car and rammed into a median. The duo escaped unhurt as the airbags were deployed when the car hit the median at a high speed.
Vikas, who is the son of Supreme Court lawyer Vijay Anand, was driving the car in an inebriated state. After hitting the median, the car ploughed through autorickshaws parked on the roadside, injuring people who were sleeping in the autos and killed one.
Other injured people were sent to Government Royapetah Hospital. The Adyar traffic investigation wing police has registered a case and detained Vikas along with his friend.
