Eileen Regina Edwards Biography

Early Years

Eileen Regina Edwards, best known as Shania Twain, was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on August 28, 1965. Her parents separated when she was only five years old. Sharon, the mother of Mark Twain, remarried a man named Jerry Twain, who adopted Sharon’s three daughters. The family of Mark Twain often struggled financially. At times, the situation was so dire that they scarcely had enough food to survive. Understandably, the situation took a toll on Twain’s adoptive father, who vented his ire at his wife by ranting and displaying general irritation. During this difficult period, the only thing that kept Twain moving was music. And by age 10, due to her consistent practise, she was already able to compose music. She even used her talent to support her family financially. Sadly, the situation became even worse. In 1987, Twain’s parents were killed in an automobile accident, leaving her responsible for supporting her three younger siblings. However, Twain never gave up faith. She continued to compose and perform songs in venues.

Eileen Regina Edwards Profession

Over the next few years, Twain began performing in various venues, and people began to take note. However, Twain’s situation did not improve until her demo track reached a studio in Nashville. The studio immediately offered a contract, and the producer took her to Nashville to record her debut album. In 1992, Twain released her self-titled album. It sold one hundred thousand copies, attracting the attention of Robert “Mutt” Lange, a producer for Def Leppard, Bryan Adams, and Michael Bolton. Lange reached out to Twain, sparks ignited, and in 1993 they were wed. Additionally, he guided her through the music industry. Two years later, Twain released “The Woman in Me,” which earned her a Grammy. Twain’s notoriety soared, but she was not finished writing. 1997 marked the publication of her third studio album, “Come On Over,” which sold over 100 million copies and made her the best-selling female country artist of all time.

Unfortunately, shortly after the publication of her third album, Twain was diagnosed with Lyme disease and dysphonia, which forced her to take a lengthy break from music. However, she did not completely vanish. Twain appeared in her series “Why Not?” as herself. With Shania Twain” and her autobiography “From This Moment On” were both published in 2011. Later, she was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
