Convicted drug lord El Chapo, whose real name is Joquin Guzman, is planning to launch an eponymous fashion brand this summer.
The 61-year-old kingpin is working with his wife Emma Coronel Aispuro on the sartorial project. The El Chapo-branded clothing will feature the drug lord’s name and signature and could soon become available in the US and Mexico.
The brand is inspired by El Chapo’s, real name Joaquin Guzman, twin seven year-old daughters with assistance from his wife Emma Coronel Aispuro,
El Chapo, who was found guilty of drug trafficking, money laundering and firearms possession last month, signed the papers granting use of his signature from his cell in a Manhattan federal prison. His wife will head up the limited liability company, or LLC.
Coronel, a former beauty queen with an interest in fashion, has twin 7-year-old daughters with Guzman. She was a regular presence at her husband’s trial, and was often swarmed by media reporting on her fashion choices in court.
He is considered to have been the most powerful drug trafficker in the world and was found guilty in February of drug trafficking, money laundering and firearms possession. Once the leader of a murderous drug cartel in Mexico, Guzman was convicted last month of running a continuing criminal enterprise and other drug-related charges.
