Engineers’ Day 2020: Engineers’ Day is observed on September 15 every year to thank one of the most successful civil engineer Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. It is celebrated annually on his birth anniversary. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. was popularly known as Sir MV and he had a major part in transforming society.
Mokshagundam was born in 1861 in Muddenahalli, Karnataka, and is remembered for his huge contribution to the engineering field. Apart from being the world’s most talented engineers, he was also a statesman and economist. He also introduced the Block system of dams across the country.

Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was awarded Bharat Ratna in 1955 for his outstanding contributions. King George V awarded him the British knighthood. People celebrate Engineer’s Day to honor Mokshagundam Visvesvar and achievements. He was also among the last century’s foremost nation-builders who helped in transforming society for a better tomorrow.
