Old Monk, one of the oldest alcohol brands in India, has launched new collection of rum with some interesting flavours including Old Monk Orange Rum, Old Monk Lemon Rum, Old Monk Apple Rum, Old Monk White Rum, Old Monk Cola, Old Monk Cranberry and Old Monk Mojito.
According to social media and reports, these new ones especially the cola, cranberry, mojito and all have a slightly lower alcohol content compared to the regular Old Monk and are also easier to drink when on the go.
Till now, this collection is available in Karnataka, Pune and Mumbai.
Old Monk challenges Bacardi’s Breezer
As the two brothers Hemant and Vinay Mohan, take charge after the passing of their octogenarian uncle Brigadier Kapil Mohan — the longest serving chairman of Mohan Meakin – the resurrection has already been marked.
The two have been keen to take the battle right to their biggest global rival – Bacardi – by launching the ready-to-drink (RTD) category in direct competition to Breezer. Old Monk extended into ready to drink segment with cola, cranberry and mojito flavours – entering Bacardi Breezer’s turf. Flavoured white rum extensions from apple and orange to lemon which were launched in select markets have taken across India.
Earlier this year, the firm had launched Old Monk Legend which was priced at Rs1200 a bottle in Maharashtra — the highest for any domestic rum. In its first month itself, it got the numbers that were expected in three
years, claimed the company.
