EPFO Passbook Portal: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has brought its passbook portal back after a maintenance break, so members can once again log in and check their provident fund statements. EPFO’s own passbook page now says the service is available again, while some older accounting years are still being moved into the upgraded system. The portal also notes that passbook updates for wage months like September to October 2025 are still being processed in some cases, so a few entries may take more time to show up.
The message shown on the portal says, “The account transactions for the recently processed accounting years are currently available. Transactions pertaining to earlier accounting years are being migrated and will be made available within the next few days.

This is an automated process, and no action is required from the member. The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.” That means members do not need to do anything special. They only need to wait for the rest of the old records to appear.
Timing Importance
This update comes at an important time because EPFO is set to start crediting 8.25% annual interest for FY2025-26 into provident fund accounts from July 15, 2026. EPFO’s official records and meeting papers show that 8.25% is the declared interest rate for the earlier financial year, and the same rate is being used in the current update cycle mentioned in the user’s text. For many members, the passbook is the easiest way to check whether the interest has been added correctly.
The passbook service was tied to EPFO’s larger database and software upgrade, and the organisation had earlier said services were expected to come back by June 30, 2026. EPFO also posted maintenance notices in July saying parts of the member portal would be unavailable during scheduled technical work. So the return of the passbook portal is part of a bigger system refresh rather than a small one-time fix.

UAN Activation has Also Changed
There is another big change for members. EPFO has stopped web-based Universal Account Number activation through the Unified Member Portal.
The official portal now says, “The facility for UAN Activation through this portal has been discontinued. You can now easily Activate your UAN through Aadhaar-based Face Authentication (FAT) on the UMANG App.” That means people must now use the UMANG mobile app for UAN activation. EPFO’s help pages and circulars also say the same thing.
