A viral image of a bizarre airport signboard in Chennai is going rounds on social media especially after actress Shabana Azmi has shared the image a few days back on her Instagram handle.
While there were few Twitter users who claimed that they saw the same signboard a few months ago at the airport.
While the Hindi version of the sign reads, “Farsh par khaana sakht mana hai”, which translates to “Eating on the floor is strictly prohibited”, the English one, which read, “Eating carpet strictly prohibited,” clearly fails to convey the same message.
Here’s the viral image shared by Shabana Azmi and the claim of the user
It is NOT a morphed image. I saw this exact board in Chennai Airport 6 months or so back. It is no longer there but that does NOT mean it is a morphed image

However, the Airport Authority of India tweeted out a post requesting people not to circulate morphed pictures, without proper fact-checking.
Advertising “Important Announcement from #AAI Since 2015, this morphed image has been doing rounds time and again” the government agency tweeted on November 1

When a reverse check was done on the claim by the airport it was found that the viral image is morphed. The viral image was shared originally in 2015. Actor Arshad Warsi had shared it then.
