Amidst coronavirus scare, there are a lot of other happenings of crime that are happening simultaneously. On Sunday morning a man was shot dead in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh where claims were made that deceased Lotan Nishad was allegedly shot by some members of Tablighi Jamaat.

However, the claims have been deemed false as a tweet of the Prayagraj Police has surfaced, where they have discarded claims of such sorts and denied the shooters involvement with Tablighi Jamaat:

“The Police according to its findings states that the accused and 8 other members have been booked under FIR 127/2020 for initiating violence, none of the alleged members is part of Tablighi Jamaat. We according to our conscience will carry out a strict investigation to ensure justice in this case,” Prayagraj Police replied to Deepak Chaurasia’s claim who blamed member of Tabligh for the crime.

According to TOI report, Prayagraj SSP said, “As per the preliminary investigations, a group of persons who were sitting at the main gate of victim’s house had involved themselves in heated arguments over the spread of Covid-19 while reading the newspaper and the scene took an ugly turn when two of the men from a community allegedly shot dead one of the members of another community.”

Verdict: The accused has been identified as Mohammad Sona alias Sonu, a resident of Bakshi Moda village, who has no connection with the Tablighi Jamaat.
