Fake alert! False messages, websites circulate asking donations for Pulwama martyrs

The entire nation was in shock when a Jaish suicide bomber in a van packed with explosives reportedly rammed into a CRPF bus on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday February 14, leaving at least 45 CRPF troopers killed while some 20 jawans injured.

Thereafter, donation portals have opened up to support the families of the deceased soldiers.

However, fake pictures, videos and now messages and links for donations have been doing the rounds on social media. The messages give false information about a new scheme and asking for donations in the name of CRPF jawans.

A message, in both Hindi and English, is doing rounds on social media, talking about a new scheme, the Indian Army Battle Casualties and Weapon Purchase, that has been launched by the Modi government.

The message also contains details of bank accounts where donations can be made. Further, it claims that the scheme was launched by PM Narendra Modi on actor Akshay Kumar’s suggestion.

It should be noted that the information given in the message is only partially true. A Twitter in a series of tweets got to the roots, went on to tag PMO to check the veracity of such messages using the incident as a ploy to generate income.

You can extend help to bravehearts by donating money for their families through the following ways –

Bharat Ke Veer app: You can download the application on your mobile phone or visit the website Bharat Ke Veer to make a contribution to support the families of the jawans who died in the line of duty. The monetary contributions made on the website go straight to the bank accounts of martyred soldiers’ families.

PayTm: CRPF Wives Association collaborated with one of the most popular e-commerce websites in India to help donors contribute to the fund which will go to aid martyr’s family. The donations can be made through “CRPF Bravehearts” option. The option can be see in the ‘Donation’ category with “Contribute’, written.
