Himachal Pradesh: Friendship did over Facebook costs expensive to a woman. A citizen from abroad trapped the woman hailing from Shimla in his love and conned over Rs 10 Lakh from her.
A woman who lives in Vikas Nagar area befriended the accused over Facebook. He made a Facebook account in name of Daniel and told himself a citizen of Germany. The accused sent a friend request to the woman in January.
During this, the accused trapped the woman in his words and took his Whatsapp no., after chatting with her for few days he asked for her house address so that he can send a gift for her.
The woman received a call one day which said that she has received a gift from abroad and it’s quite expensive so she has to pay tax to avail it. The woman agreed to it and transferred some money to a bank account. The accused used to call from different phone numbers and asked the woman to put more money in the account.
The woman has transferred a total of Rs 10.35 lakhs in the bank account and when she was asked to put more money in the account, it was then she realized that she has been conned.
The woman has registered a complaint in the Shimla police station and investigation into the matter is underway.
