Benefits will be disbursed to recipients whose Social Security numbers conclude with 11, 31, 51, 71, or 91 on January 1. Benefits are paid to individuals whose SSNs conclude on 01, 21, 41, 61, or 81 on January 2, and so forth. On January 20, recipients whose SSNs terminate in 00, 20, 40, 60, or 80 should collect their payments.

Maximum payments are as follows: $291 for a one-person household, $1,155 for a five-person household, and $1,751 for an eight-person household. For more than eight members per household, an additional $219 is added.

Monthly SNAP benefits are deposited onto an electronic benefit transfer card, which recipients may use to purchase eligible food items (fruits, vegetables, bread, meat and poultry, and beverages) at grocery stores. It is prohibited for SNAP recipients to purchase pet food, alcoholic beverages, and domestic items (including paper and soap).

SNAP applications can be submitted via YesNM, the self-service eligibility portal of the state of New Mexico. For public assistance benefits such as SNAP, Medicaid, and the Low-Income Heating and Energy Assistance Program, this application is utilized. Households can check the application status via the portal or by calling the toll-free response line at 1-800-283-4465.
