Your mobile bill will increase by next year. According to the report, the three largest telecom companies could raise the cost of prepaid plans. It is being said that Vodafone-Idea (V) will launch it and then Reliance Jio and Airtel will also announce price hikes.
As per reports, these three companies are requesting the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Troy) to announce the floor price. Floor price means the lowest unpaid service price. Currently, telecom companies set the cost of calling and data.
Free call and cheap data will not be available
Setting the minimum floor price directly means you may not get free calls and cheap data from next year. Companies want to increase their average revenue per user (ARPU) to ₹ 300 per month. Vodafone-Idea may announce the price hike in March. According to a report by ICICI Securities, tariff increases could increase Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea’s ARP by 20 percent in FY2022.
The tariff hike was in December 2019
The last time in December 2019, three companies had increased their plans by 25 to 40 percent. At that time, Reliance Jio had also eliminated irregular calls on other networks. The price hike was supposed to happen in 2020 but was postponed due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus and the ground price.
