Kalki 2898 AD: The long-awaited release date for Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD has finally been announced. A film starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan is scheduled for release in theaters in June of this year. The film’s producers announced the replacement release date on X (previously referred to as Twitter) on Saturday. The revised release date for the science fiction epic is June 27.
The film’s release date was announced via the official X account of Kalki 2898 AD, which also shared the film’s new poster. The poster’s uppermost portion bore the inscription “27 June 2024.” The poster featured a collective appearance of Deepika, Prabhas, and Amitabh, juxtaposed against an expansive desert-like setting. The post featured the caption, “On——, all the forces unite for a brighter tomorrow.”

The producers released a brand-new teaser featuring Amitabh Bachchan earlier this month. The actor will portray Ashwatthama in the science fiction epic directed by Nag Ashwin. Big B was seen in the teaser praying before a Shiva linga in what appears to be a cave. When a juvenile inquires about his identity, he responds, “I have eagerly anticipated the advent of the Avatar since antiquity.” I am the offspring of Guru Drona. “This is Ashwatthama.” On social media, his de-aged appearance from the film garnered traction.

The film is a science fiction drama directed by Nag Ashwin and featuring Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika, and Amitabh in the principal roles. On the eve of Maha Shivaratri, the film’s producers unveiled a new poster that disclosed the identity of Prabhas’ character, Bhairava.
Nag commented on the film’s title at the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, stating, “The film commences with the Mahabharat and concludes in 2898 AD. The duration of time is 6000 years. We endeavored to fabricate worlds by envisioning their potentialities while preserving the Indian aesthetic and avoiding a Blade Runner aesthetic.
