Although it is voters who are voting for the best to govern five Indian states, the situation are changing each day in the underground gambling markets of central and east Delhi. The poll results are to be announced in just few weeks.
Day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remark over Kabristan (graveyard) and shamshan (cremation ground), the betting industry was in chaos. As per a report in India Today, the numbers have changed considerably in the gambling world.
For example, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) progressed from a likelihood of 97 seats as on February 6 to 161 seats on February 21. In the same period, the Samajwadi Party (SP) fell from 220 seats to 150.
The BSP tally, as per the market, hasn’t changed much, fluctuating from 66 seats to 72.
“Since PM Modi’s statement on February 20 that there should not be any discrimination between Hindus and Muslims, the satta (betting) market has witnessed commotion, with the BJP overtaking the SP-Congress alliance for the first time,” said a bookie to India Today.
According to bookmakers, the emotive issues work better in elections.
