Gandhinagar is one of the 26 constituencies in Gujarat to go on polls in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2019 on Tuesday, April 23. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded party president Amit Shah who will compete against Congress candidate CJ Chavde.

Bharatiya Janata Party has won a total of nine times from this constituency with five wins coming successively since 1998. Sitting MP and party patriarch LK Advani has been from this constituency for the last two decades. In 2013, Advani had defeated Kiritbhai Ishvarbhai Patel by a margin of more than 4.8 lakh votes.

The voting for Gujarat’s 26 parliamentary seats will take place in single phase elections for the 2019 General elections to April 23. The last phase will be held on May 19.

The Gandhinagar Parliamentary constituency has a total of 1,555,709 electorates from which 756,045 are females and 799,664 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports.

In Phase III of the voting for the 17th Lok Sabha, elections will take place in 115 Lok Sabha constituencies across 14 states. Voting for this phase will take place on April 23. While, like all the other phases, counting will take place in May 23.

Along with Lok Sabha Elections, voting will also take place for the third phase of Odisha Assembly Elections 2019. The turnout in the last general election in 2014 was more than 66%, up from 45% in 1951 when the first election was held.
