Gareth Southgate is holding off from making any decisions regarding his future as England manager after his team’s 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final. With his contract set to expire in December, it remains uncertain if he will extend his tenure to cover future tournaments such as the 2026 World Cup in North America.
“I don’t think now is a good time to make a decision like that. I’m going to talk to the right people,” Southgate told British broadcaster ITV. “It’s just not for now.”
Southgate’s eight-year reign has seen him become the first England men’s team manager to reach two finals, though their only trophy remains the 1966 World Cup.
