George Floyd Murder Case: Local artists paint ‘Black Lives Matter’ on street near White House

Local artists and city staff have painted “Black Lives Matter” in massive yellow letters on 16th Street near the White House, Washington DC.

People in cities across the globe are protesting against George Floyd encounter. There have been marching and protests all over the US. Public figures and politicians united and raised voice against the injustice against African-Americans.

Social media platforms have been swamped by #JusticeforGeorgeFloyd and #BlackLivesMatter.

On Friday, Local artists and city staff have painted “Black Lives Matter” in massive yellow letters on 16th Street near the White House, Washington DC. According to a local artist Rose Jaffey, artists arrived on the spot and started painting at 4 am.

On Sunday, thousands of people demonstrated in central London, shouting  “No Justice! No peace!” in Trafalgar Square before marching to the US embassy, where they faced a line of police.

George Floyd’s death followed several widely highlighted incidents that exposed the extreme racism in American society.  On 23 February Ahmaud Arbery was shot by a former police officer and his son while they attempted a citizen’s arrest for jogging in the wrong neighbourhood in Georgia.

Talking about George Floyd case, this 46-year-old man died after Derek Chauvin, a white policeman, knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes on May 25. The day after Mr. Floyd’s death, the Police Department fired all four of the officers involved in the incident.
