Every year on October 15, Global Handwashing Day is observed. The day aims to promote handwashing and to make people realize the importance of washing hands with soaps.
It helps in reducing and preventing diseases. As per the data, about 25-50 percent of respiratory and intestinal diseases can be avoided by washing hands regularly.
The day was formerly called “Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing” and it came to existence in 2008. Over 200 million people come together to celebrate this day.
The main objective of the day is to make people realize the importance of washing hands with soaps and reducing potential diseases.

This year, the theme for Global Handwashing Day is “Clean Hands for All”. It focuses on everyone in a growth program and making sure everyone has what it takes to wash their hands with soaps regularly.

Global Handwashing Day focuses on educating the children on the handwashing and how it can prevent them from infectious diseases. It is said that children are most prone to health issues if they fail to maintain their hygiene and with dirty hands, they can fall sick easily.
The day promotes this campaigning in schools amongst the teachers and students. It is important that children understand the need to wash off the germs from their hands regularly by using soaps.
