New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a sweeper inside a civic body run school in Shahdara district. The accused was arrested after the incident took place.
The victim’s complaint said that while she was leaving the school on February 5, the accused asked her to sit at a place and after which he moved the girl to another seat, then forced her towards the wall and raped her, a police officer said.
Not only did he rape the girl but he also threatened her of dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone.
The victim later narrated the ordeal to her family and relatives, following which a complaint was filed against the sweeper.
A case was registered against the sweeper under the POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) and other sections under the Indian Penal Code, deputy commissioner Meghna Yadav said.
The 38-year-old sweeper works in an EDMC run school for the last three months. The victim’s family hail from Bihar and the victim lives in Delhi with her relatives.
