While the Bihar Grand Alliance is appearing to turn sour, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reportedly asserted that the Grand Alliance between the Janata Dal-United (JDU), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress is unbreakable. As per reports, Kumar spoke to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi about keeping the grand alliance alive as he asked her how can ‘we kill our baby’.

Notably, the grand alliance has been appearing to be under strain after Kumar supported NDA’s Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind. Additionally, Kumar has been silent over the series of CBI raids on RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his family.

Meanwhile, according to sources, Nitish Kumar is all set to meet the Congress leadership later this month in Delhi around July 23.

An Indian Express report has quoted JD(U) general secretary KC Tyagi giving more support to the report. He reportedly said that the grand alliance is not going to break. “It is our own baby. How can we kill it?” he was quoted as asking on Wednesday.

As per reports, Sonia and Rahul had a brief telephonic conversation with the Bihar CM on Wednesday, while thanking Nitish Kumar for his support to Opposition Vice-Presidential nominee Gopalkrishna Gandhi whose name was finalised at a meeting of 18 Opposition parties, including the JD(U), on Tuesday. In the meeting, Sharad Yadav represented Nitish Kumar.
