The state of Gujarat will celebrate its 59th foundation day on May 1. Gujarat state was formed along with Maharashtra after they were divided from Mumbai.
The people of the state are all in a mood to celebrate and there are events planned on each district headquarters and village panchayats.
The history behind it was that the idea of the foundation of Gujarat was cut in 1928 in a magazine called Kumar. After 9 years, writer and freedom fighter K M Munshi first suggested a concept called Mahagujarat during a meeting of Gujarat Sahitya Sabha held in Karachi in 1937.
Ahead of a poem by Devshavji Paramar titled Uthtrishta Jagrat, map of Gujarat was shown in a magazine. The state was known for its agricultural products like cotton, sugarcane, groundnuts, and milk for a long time now.
Gujarat’s biggest city Ahmedabad has found a place in Forbes list of the world’s fastest growing cities at number 3 after Chengdu and Chongqing from China. Also, the state is known for being the home state of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
