On Tuesday, Gujarat government issued a circular to the district authorities asking them to ban the well known multiple-player game Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, popularly known by its abbreviation PUBG.

The circular was passed on following a recommendation by Gujarat State Commission for Protection of Child Right according to a PTI report.

According to Jagruit Pandya chairperson of Gujarat State Commission for Protection of Child Right, “The NCPCR(National Commission for Protection of Child Rights) had sent a letter to all the states and recommended a ban on the game. All the states are required to implement it. Looking at the negative effects of the game, we had recently sent a letter to the state government recommending a ban on the game”.

The ban was said to be necessary as the addiction of the game was adversely affecting the children’s studies.

PUBG is one of the most popular online games available on smartphones right now, with over five million concurrent players at any one time.
