Gujarat: Theft at former CM Shankarsinh Vaghela’ house, Chowkidar key suspect

Ahmedabad: A case of theft has been reported from the house of former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela. An FIR has been lodged with Pethapur police of Gandhinagar.

His security guard is the prime suspect in the case. Vaghela’s security man — Basudev Nepali alias Shambhu Gurkha and his wife Sharda had allegedly fled with Rs 3 lakh cash and ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh from his house ‘Vasant Vagdo’ near K/7 circle in Gandhinagar.

In an FIR filled by Suryansinh Hemtuji Chavda a resident at Pethapur, it was informed that Nepali was employed four years ago and was living with his wife and children in Vasant Vagdo. “On February 2, Vaghela told me that Nepali had left in October with his kids and wife and did not return since then. On February 7, ornaments and cash worth Rs 7 lakh were not found in the cupboard where they were kept. The room in which the cupboard was kept was accessed only by Nepali and his wife,” the FIR read.

The case is currently under investigation.

Vaghela a year and a half after quitting the Congress party months before the Lok Sabha election, had joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in January.
