Gully Boy box office collection day 4: Ranveer-Alia’s film rules weekend

Gully Boy was released on Valentine’s Day and since then the movie is getting a lot of praises from the critics as well as the audience. Ranveer & Alia’s performance in the movie has turned out to be stellar thereby adding up to their box office collection.

The movie opened on a hefty 19.40 crore becoming Alia’s highest opener and Ranveer’s second highest opener.

The film which opened on 3350 screens across the country has collected a total of 73.15 crores on the weekend crossing the 50 crore mark. On Sunday the film gathered around 21 crores.

The film is based on a slum rapper from Mumbai who wants to rise above his socio-economic status to become a star. The film is inspired from two street rappers Divine and Naezy.

Special screening of the film was also held in Mumbai. They have received many appreciations from their families as well.

International rap artist Will Smith also praised Ranveer’s performance in Gully Boy. In a video, Will congratulated Ranveer and said, “Yo, Ranveer! Congrats, man! I am loving what you are doing with Gully Boy. For me, old school hip-hop here, seeing hip-hop all over the world like that… I am loving it, man. Congrats, go get ’em,” he is heard saying in the clip.

Zoya Akhtar directorial film also stars Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz and Amruta Subhash in crucial roles.
