Happy Durga Ashtami 2020: Navratri in Sanskrit means nine nights. The nine days are dedicated to nine avatars of the goddess Durga who is believed to come from heaven to stay with their devotees for these nine auspicious days. The people pray to the deity with offerings of flowers, fruits, and Prasad. Early morning poojas are also performed and houses are clean.
The eighth day of Chaitra Navratri 2020 is popularly known as Maha Ashtami or Durga Ashtami, is dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri. On this day, Sandhi puja is done at a point of time when Ashtami tithi ends and Navmi tithi starts. It is very important for those who have fasted throughout Navratri.
