Indian social activist Hardik Patel who participated and led the Patidar reservation agitation has decided to contest for Lok Sabha polls most probably from Amreli constituency of Saurashtra region in Gujarat.

Hardik Patel is all set to enter the electoral politics. However, it has not confirmed that Hardik will fight the election from a political party or as an independent candidate though sources close to him said that he will be fighting against BJP according to The Indian Express.

“He (Hardik) has been offered two seats of Gujarat; Mehsana and Amreli by the main Opposition party, Congress. However, there is a ban on his entry in Mehsana because of criminal case against him. Meanwhile, Amreli is the best option for him to contest and win the elections,” said a source as quoted by The Indian Express.

According to the source, a declaration has been made by Hardik saying that he would not fight elections without getting a reservation. “Now that the constitutional reservation has been attained (for Patidars and other General categories of the society), the promise stands fulfilled and therefore, Hardik has made up his mind of fighting elections most probably from Amreli.”

Hardik Patel feels that after getting the reservation would be a better option to serve the youth and farmers of the country as an elected member and probably sitting on some post, said by the sources close to the young leader.

Currently, Hardik is finalising the strategy for making electoral debut in the LS elections by consulting his supporters. Congress MLA from Amreli Paresh Dhanani who is also the leader of Opposition in Gujarat Assembly and Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amit Chavda could not be contacted over the development.
