Soon after tale of women’s hair being chopped off spread in Haryana and Gurgaon, women’s hair in Gujarat has also been chopped off in their sleep. The first incident of a woman’s locks being lopped off was reported on Monday in Mansa. The incident has been reported to the Mansa police. A police sub-inspector has been assigned to investigate the case. Devuben Thakor, who lives with her husband at Manekpur village in Mansa taluka, has claimed that someone cut her hair when she was asleep, reported Ahmedabad Mirror.
According to the victim, on Sunday night she was sleeping in her makeshift house. Around 10.30 pm she felt someone running his hand through her hair. She suddenly woke up and saw somebody running out of the house. She ran after the mystery person, but he was nowhere to be found. She then ran her hand through her hair and found a crop of hair that seemed to be cut with the help of scissors.
When she informed her neighbours about this, they advised her to go to the police and file a report.
Mansa Sarpanch Jagatsinh Chawda confirmed the incident. “It’s strange as this is the first time it has happened in our village. The woman does not know how her hair was cut but claims to have seen a person fleeing her house that night. The matter has been reported to the police.”
PSI K R Vaghela said, “She felt something in her head while she was asleep and when she woke up found that someone had cut off a bunch of her hair. However, on preliminary inquiry the hair she claims to be cut off does not seem to be her hair. Moreover, the incident has no similarity to the cases reported in Uttar Pradesh.”
