PLASTIC BAG BAN
Rhode Island, like numerous other states, is implementing a prohibition on single-use plastic bags by the Plastic Waste Reduction Act. Paper bags will be required to be recyclable, according to WJAR.
MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE
At this time, the minimum wage in the Ocean State stands at $13 per hour. The minimum wage will escalate to $15 per hour by 2025, following a $14 per hour increase in January.
PRIMARY ELECTIONS
According to WJAR, as of the general election, people who are 18 years old will be able to vote in primary elections if they are 17 at the time. Voting requires registration.
JUNETEENTH
Juneteenth will be proclaimed a state holiday in an official capacity.
IDENTIFICATION CARDS
WJAR reported that the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles will issue state identification cards to individuals who lack the appropriate documentation to establish a lawful presence in the United States. This is comparable to the prerequisites for driver privilege certificates.
PARKING LOTS
Parking facilities, both existing and new, will be required to increase their capacity and install charging stations for electric vehicles, per WJAR.
