FIR or First Information Report is a written document which is prepared by police in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. When the police receive information about the commission of a cognizable offense, an FIR is prepared.
It is basically a complaint lodged with the police by the victim or by someone on his or her behalf. Anyone can make such a report either orally or written to the police.
FIR can also be filed through the online medium. Here’s how!
Steps to file an FIR online
Step 1- Visit the Delhi Police official website
Step 2-Select Services option will scroll down
Step 3- Choose the option complaint from the online service box
Step 4- Accordingly file the FIR
Step 5- After submitting the complaint you will receive a copy of your e-FIR in PDF form. Download and take a print out of the report.
Information to keep in mind before filing FIR
- In the complainant’s name fill the name of the person who wants to file an FIR
- Enter the name of Father and mother of the complainant.
- Enter the full address of the complainant, working mobile number and Email ID as the copy of the FIR will be sent to the mail for verification.
