UP Police Recruitment 2018: The Allahabad High Court has sought information from the recruitment board in the case of constable recruitment in civil police and PAC. The state government asked for complete information in the matter of calling candidates more than two and a half times relative to the posts in the category of women constables and selecting candidates in OBC quota without valid caste certificate.

Many OBC candidates have filed a petition in the High Court regarding this matter. They said that despite being successful in all stages, they were not selected. Justice Ajay Bhanot, hearing the petition of Ruchi Yadav and others, has sought information in this case.

According to the petitioner advocate, women constables were to be selected for 31360 posts in 2018 recruitment. The petitioners applied under the OBC quota. She qualified for the written examination, document verification etc. The cut off merit of OBC quota was 182.3272 in which the petitioners were successful. The final phase was to be a physical efficiency test.

As per the condition of the advertisement, the board earlier called two and a half times the candidates for merit according to the total posts.

A physical proficiency test was conducted between December 2019 to January 2020. On January 8, 2020, the board issued a release that additional candidates are being called due to non-availability of qualified women candidates. After this, the cut off merit was reduced to 167.3889.

The final selection result was released on March 2, 2020, in which the petitioners were not selected.

The petitioners said that when she was selected in the cut off merit above this, how was she dropped out of the selection after bringing the merit down. It was also said that many such candidates have been selected in the selection list who do not have OBC caste certificate between April and December 18.

The court has summoned the information considering the matter to be considered.
